Stede Bonnet Midlife Crisis Tour 1717 ~ Comfort Colors Tee

Bought a Boat ~ Hired a Crew ~ Left the Plantation

In spring 1717 a wealthy Barbados planter named Stede Bonnet, who had never sailed anything, bought a sloop, named it the Revenge, and paid a crew to go pirating with him. He was about 29. Some men buy a convertible. He bought a career he could not do.

• For anyone mid-reinvention: Buy it for the dad who took up the drums at 52, the friend who quit accounting for a food truck, and the man who once said how hard can it be.
• Gentleman pirate, zero sea hours: He had the money, the boat and the crew, and the one thing he could not buy was knowing what he was doing.
• Hired on through: Part of Pirate History & Legends, where the career pivot came with cannons.
