America vs Pirates Round One 1801 to 1805 ~ Comfort Colors Tee

The New Country Picked Its First Fight Overseas

The United States was about 25 years old when it went to war with Tripoli over its corsairs, from May 1801 to June 1805. It is usually called the first American war fought on foreign ground. There was a second round in 1815, which tells you how thoroughly the first one settled things.

• Sequel, 1815: Round one ended in 1805, round two came a decade later, and nobody has scheduled a third.
• Enlisted through: Part of Pirate History & Legends, where the young republic learned the sea does not care how new you are.
